Korean Classical Chinese Poetry and East Asia/Lee Jongmook
The "Korean Classical Chinese Poetry and East Asia" course is aimed at understanding the patterns of classical Sino-Korean poetry (hansi) from an East Asian perspective. It explores how classical Chinese poetry was adopted or adapted in Korea, how classical Sino-Korean poetry was transmitted to China, how poetry was exchanged through official diplomatic missions among various East Asian countries, and the issues surrounding the creation of classical Sino-Korean poetry based on the experiences and observations of Korean literati in East Asia. By addressing these topics, the course seeks to promote an understanding of the distinctive characteristics of classical Sino-Korean poetry in comparison to Chinese poetry and its universal value within the context of East Asia.
